On Island is operated by Islands AI Ltd, registered in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Contact: [email protected].

When you sign in: Name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account (or name and email if you create an account with email/password).

When you use the marketplace: Listing details (title, description, photos, price, parish), messages between buyers and sellers.

When you enable notifications: Push notification subscription (a technical token linked to your device, not your phone number).

When you share location in chat: Your GPS coordinates, only when you explicitly tap the location button. We do not track your location in the background.

Preferences stored on your device: Island selection, favourite bus stops, bin collection schedule, notification settings. These are stored in your browser's localStorage and are not sent to our servers unless you are signed in.

We do not collect: payment or banking information, browsing history on other websites, precise location data without your explicit action, data from your contacts or phone.

To provide the On Island service: displaying your listings, delivering messages, sending push notifications you have opted into, and personalising your experience (e.g., showing your island's bus times and events).

On Island displays publicly available information from: Visit Guernsey, jersey.com, BBC News (RSS), UrbanThings (bus data), Open-Meteo (weather), airport.gg (flights), Condor Ferries, and Guernsey government services (bin collection). We do not share your personal data with these sources.

Account data and messages are stored in PocketBase on our servers. Marketplace listings are stored on our servers. Preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising services.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your data is only visible to: you, users you message, and our administrators for moderation purposes.

You can delete your listings from the My Listings section. To request complete account and data deletion, email [email protected]. We will process your request within 30 days.

On Island uses localStorage (similar to cookies) to remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and store your island selection. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party cookies. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

On Island is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

Under the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law 2017, you have the right to: access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, object to processing, and receive your data in a portable format. Contact [email protected] to exercise these rights.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via the app.
